Finding the Right One and Age

I am a healthy 78, working full time and found it difficult to find MJ or Ozempic for my age. Finally, Superdrug accepted me and I have been injecting MJ since June and have safely lost about a stone, with no ill effects. The price hike is scary and I have tried the three cheapest places on here and they won't accept my age. This means it will probably be easier to swap to Wegovy with Superdrug so would like ideas, suggestion and a few opinions, please! Carol B πŸ™‚

Hi Carol B - first, well done so far! The price hike is bruising but honestly, for me, it has made such a difference in my life that I am taking the hit on the chin. I'm in my late 40's so can't advise but as far as I know there isn't an official upper age limit in the UK for Mounjaro, but I do know from a friend's Mum that for over 75yrs healthcare providers are more likely to want to assess you especially for things like heart, kidneys, liver etc. I think the caution is because there is less research amongst older age groups and these drugs. Could you speak to your Doctor and ask him to give you some sort of sign off that the online pharmacy would accept? Good luck!

Hi EmmaG thank you for your response - I have been so busy I forgot to come and look to see if there were any answers! I did speak to my GP before buying Mounjaro and although she wouldn't prescribe it, she said there were no contra-indications in my records ... if you see what I mean. At the moment I am, too, taking it on the chin and am sticking with Superdrug as i know I can collect it easily ... but it is sooooo costly!

@carol-b I know of 2 people who have shifted to Wegovy and one of them felt they were losing weight faster on Wegovy than MJ! The other has moved but is on it just to maintain weight....they felt that all their lifestyle changes (bit more exercise, eating less and better etc) were important a factor as anything (although Wegovy still helped calm the food noise). Bottom line is that Wegovy can work as well....you might have to work a little harder on the things you can control (exercise, eating habits etc). Good luck!Β
