Worth a watch: BBC News on what happens when you stop weight-loss injections

This BBC piece looks at a question a lot of people have: what really happens when you come off GLP-1 weight-loss jabs?

It covers weight regain, the return of hunger and “food noise”, side effects, cost, and the emotional side of deciding whether to stop or stay on treatment. What makes it interesting is that it combines expert views with real stories from people who have actually been through it.

One of the big takeaways is that coming off these medications is not always straightforward. For many, appetite comes back fast and keeping the weight off can be a real challenge, especially without strong lifestyle changes and support in place.

It is well worth a watch:

Did it reflect your experience, or do you think it missed something important?

I've had to be very regimented on my maintenance.
It's so easy to slip back into long learnt behaviour! For me that's classic  beige food, lager and eating too late.
I've found routine is key for me. 2 meals a day plus a healthy snack. Last big meal as possible after work, movement every day if possible, weight stuff at home 3 days a week (I don't have many dumbbells but being slow and sure bridges any gaps) and booze only occasionally (not an issue now tbh).
so far, so good.

I should add...my friends and family have really helped. They saw how the weight loss has transformed my life and happiness so aren't endlessly encouraging me to be bad

There is narrative in the media at the moment that you stop the drugs and you will put weight on again....shock horror. We need to build the narrative that you will put weight on if you don't build new healtheir habits that you continue with after stopping the drugs. You can't take the drugs , lose weight, but then stop and go back to not exercising and eating the wrong foods....and expect not to put weight on.

Really interesting, thanks for sharing.

The bit about the food noise coming back is probably what would worry me most if I stopped. It’s easy to forget how loud it used to be before starting.

Trev, it sounds like you’ve built a really solid routine. Fair play, that’s genuinely encouraging to read.
