Mounjaro can help kick-start weight loss, but what happens when the jabs stop? New guidance from NICE warns that people need far more support after stopping weight loss drugs or the weight may return.

TL;DR
- NICE says people need structured support to keep weight off after Mounjaro
- Recommendations include diet, activity, online communities and self-monitoring
- The guidance is aimed at NHS patients but applies to everyone

What NICE is saying and why it matters
New guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) highlights a growing concern: many people regain weight within months of stopping drugs like Mounjaro or Wegovy if they don’t have the right support in place.
The advice, aimed at GPs and NHS providers, recommends building long-term habits around healthy eating, exercise, self-monitoring, and using external support including online communities like SlimrChat.
“People should be supported through the behaviour change process and to maintain their weight loss over the long term,” NICE states.

It’s what we’ve been saying all along
At SlimrChat, we know Mounjaro is a powerful reset but it’s not magic. Without a clear plan, routine, and ongoing motivation, many people find the weight starts to creep back.

- Checking in with supportive communities like ours
