Mounjaro price hike: what our community is saying

The news of steep price rises for Mounjaro has sparked one of the busiest conversations on the SlimrChat forum. What began as a simple post asking whether the reported figures were real quickly turned into a heartfelt community discussion about money, health and what comes next.
Shock and confusion
It all started when SlimrChat user Chrissy P shared press reports of higher prices and wondered if they reflected what pharmacies would actually charge. Others were quick to point out that these were list prices, the official figure before any pharmacy discounts and margins. Still, the concern is that higher list prices almost always feed through to what people end up paying.
As SlimrChat user Ella Journey put it:
“The list price is what Lilly charges wholesalers. Pharmacies usually pay less, but when the list goes up, pharmacy prices follow.”
Worries about affordability
This is where the anxiety really comes through. Many of us are worried about whether we can keep going.

“I have been on an eight month journey and now I am probably going to have to give up. I am not ready to.”

“I cannot afford these new prices so will look at switching to Wegovy. The big question is will Wegovy prices go up like Mounjaro?”
Political frustration
Some members link the move to US pricing pressure. SlimrChat user BertieBea wrote:
“All thanks to Donald Trump. I will struggle to afford to move up the doses on MJ.”
Community support
Despite the stress, there is also solidarity. People are lifting each other up and reminding one another that they are not facing this alone.

“It is such a kick in the teeth when you have put months into the journey and finally seen results. One month’s notice is nothing. Hang in there. You are not alone.”
Admin update
Our Admin team has also provided some background information. The sharp rise is less about the UK market itself and more about protecting higher prices in the US by making the UK less attractive for resale. Unfortunately, this means we are taking the hit here.
And yes, Wegovy could well follow. We will keep the community updated as soon as there is more news.
Takeaway
The mood in the forum thread is clear. We are worried about being priced out, angry at the scale of the increase and uncertain about what happens next with Wegovy. But we are also supporting each other through the shock.
