Mounjaro UK costs: Don’t be distracted by starter dose promotions
Peter Paumgardhen | Last update: 17th September 2025
Recent SlimrChat research on Mounjaro annual costs shows that the average yearly cost across 72 UK pharmacies is £3,684. We also found a clear spread, with the lowest-cost provider at £3,164 and the highest at £5,280 – a difference of more than £2,100.
That gap highlights why shopping around matters. But it’s not just about the overall price. To really understand what you’ll spend, it’s essential to look closely at the higher doses.

The media has been full of the fluctuating costs of weight loss drugs, particularly the increases. As a result, people are becoming more price conscious than ever. Initial reduced prices might look appealing, but you need to have the full picture to understand the overall costs throughout the treatment.
The cost breakdown by dose
Our analysis shows how much each dose contributes to the total annual cost of treatment:
- 2.5mg: 5%
- 5mg: 5%
- 7.5mg: 7%
- 10mg: 7%
- 12.5mg: 8%
- 15mg: 68%
The picture is striking. The early, lower doses together make up less than 20% of the yearly spend, while the 15mg dose alone accounts for almost 70%. And when you combine 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg, they represent 83% of the total cost.
Why the higher doses matter most
When you follow a standard treatment journey, the majority of your cost comes from the upper doses.
Of course, not every patient follows the same journey. Titration schedules and the length of treatment can vary between users. Our analysis is based on the standard recommended schedule from the manufacturer and assumes a 12-month course of treatment. It’s a model for comparison, not a prediction of what every patient will experience.
This means that while it’s natural to notice promotional offers on starter packs or first orders, these deals only cover a tiny fraction of what you’ll actually spend.
The risk of being distracted
SlimrChat co-founder Peter Paumgardhen explains:
“Discounts on starter doses may look attractive, and there’s nothing wrong with taking advantage of them. But the reality is that your long-term cost is driven by the higher doses. If you don’t compare prices carefully at 10mg, 12.5mg and especially 15mg, you may end up paying far more than necessary.”
The takeaway for users
Price is not everything – reliability, accessibility, and service should always be part of your decision. But when it comes to Mounjaro, most of your money will go on the higher doses.
So our advice is simple: enjoy the promotions if they help, but make sure your provider is competitive on the doses that really matter for your annual cost.
