Is Trump about to push up UK prices for Wegovy and Mounjaro?

Hey all
Saw this thing pop up in the news – Trump signed some executive thing in the US to cut drug prices. Nothing new, right? But then it said they’re gonna tie their prices to what other countries pay. So that includes us. UK prices are way lower than theirs.
Could this mean the UK has to raise its prices to help America save?
Like seriously, what even happens if pharma companies start feeling the squeeze from over there?

I guess it's a bit early to know and he changes his mind but in fairness it is mental. Whats 5mg of MJ here - about £170-190 a month? in the US Zepbound, their equivalent, was $1000 (about £750). That is mental....I read that the makers of the drugs were halving the prices which would make a massive difference.....but that is still going to be double what we pay here.......I can't prices going up that much here. Something is wrong over there tho....

Was thinking same. I’m paying £159/month privately for Wegovy and even that feels heavy.
And then I read Americans pay over a grand a month unless they get into some savings plan
There’s such a big gap that if the US wants to “level” things, we’re the ones who’ll get bumped
No one’s saying it will happen but I don’t trust pharma not to cash in if they get pressure from the other side of the pond

Read a few pieces and the mood over there’s kinda intense
They’re acting like we’re getting this sweet deal and it’s time we “paid our share”
Novo says it’s down to middlemen over there, but some reports say it only costs like a fiver a month to make the stuff
If that’s anywhere near true, they’ve got room to play with the prices, and guess who’s at the other end of that

Look I finally got the help I needed with Mounjaro. It took months to get here
Now I’m scared I’ll be priced out if the US picks a fight over it.
I know it’s not like anything’s changing today but if they start twisting arms on trade stuff or suppliers, who knows

Honestly feels like we are extras in a US pharma drama we did not audition for
But real talk, if prices start creeping up here just because the US wants a discount, that is wild.
We need a support group for GLP1 price anxiety at this point. Pass the protein shake and keep the hope alive folks

Hi all – just jumping in here

This convo struck a chord, and you’re not alone in feeling unsettled. It’s precisely the kind of thing that deserves a deeper look, so we’ve pulled together what we know in a short article just published in our News section.

📰 Will Trump raise UK Mounjaro and Wegovy prices?
We break down what the new US executive order could mean, what Trump signed, how UK prices compare, and why some in the community are worried (yes, your quotes made it in too).

Link here if you want to take a look:

It’s early days, and nothing’s changed in the UK yet – but it’s worth keeping an eye on. Thanks to everyone in this thread for raising the alarm so fast. This is precisely what SlimrChat is for 💬

Just read the actual presidential order and from what I can tell it’s basically asking pharma giants to be nice and give the US the best price. No real teeth init. The market got jittery at first but pharma shares bounced back quick. My take? The money lot don’t reckon US prices will actually drop. Bit of noise but not much bang.

Here in the UK I’d say we shouldn’t stress too much about price hikes just yet.
