I watched the Netflix documentary about GLP-1 weight loss drugs the other day
For context I have been on MJ for about 9 months and have lost about 11 kg, Ive not gone mad but tried to maintain as ai have gone along
The documentary felt very one-sided to me. It talked a lot about the benefits (which we probably all know)but barely mentioned the downsides, especially after stopping. The resounding message I thought was that this is basically a long-term or even lifelong treatment, similar to taking statins for cholesterol.
That’s the part that makes me a bit uneasy.
From what I’ve read, when people stop these medications the hunger and cravings can come back pretty strongly. So it feels like you’re left with two options: accept that the weight might return, or go back on the medication.
I’m not trying to criticise it, like I said, I’m using it and it’s clearly helping me. But sometimes I wonder if this creates a kind of dependency where once you start, it’s very hard to stop without regaining the weight. Does anyone else think about this, or am I overthinking it?
