What’s happening
Wegovy can now be transported to patients at temperatures below 30°C for up to 48 hours during the final stage of delivery to your house.
This is the first time a GLP-1 weight loss treatment in the UK has been approved for this kind of flexible delivery window.
As we all know until now the Wegovy jab, like the Mounjaro, had to stay refrigerated throughout the entire journey from your pharmacy to you. That strict “cold chain” requirement makes delivery more complex, the packaging more bulky and has a bigger environmental impact.
No change for users
The guidance for patients remains exactly the same and the update only applies to the delivery process. So there is no change to how you should store or use Wegovy once it arrives. It should still be refrigerated.
All of the UK pharmacies will no doubt start updating all of the patients with their delivery plans so watch out for their updates.
